Constitution of the Australian Resuscitation Advisory Network (ARAN)
Aims and Purposes
The purpose of the Australian Resuscitation Advisory Network (ARAN) is to provide a resource for those involved in the delivery and application of resuscitation and the training of others in resuscitation; including: access to current research, field findings, promotion of evidence-based practice and innovation in resuscitation process, techniques, regimes and guidelines.
1. The promotion and research of innovation and evidence-based practice in resuscitation across the clinical and non-clinical sectors.
2. The promotion of resuscitation in the community to improve knowledge and ultimately outcomes from cardiac arrest.
3. To advocate for improvements in community readiness and support for cardiac arrests.
4. To be recognised as an authority and influencer on matters relating to current BLS resuscitation practice.
Structure
The Australian Resuscitation Advisory Network is a voluntary, non-profit organisation.
Objectives
1. To provide an apolitical, non-partisan forum and resource for those seeking to develop innovation in resuscitation.
2. To act as a platform to discuss difficulties and anomalies with the implementation of established guidelines.
3. To promote relevant research and innovation in resuscitation across all sectors.
4. To help to ensure Australian resuscitation practice reflects international research and evidence in resuscitation and also remains a "common-sense" measure that caters for all users, regardless of age and ability.
5. Act to encourage innovation and research in resuscitation processes and techniques.
6. Act with equity and collaboration with each sector or group involved in the delivery of resuscitation or training in resuscitation to ensure guidelines are sympathetic, congruent, effective and appropriate.
7. Ensure that integrity and appropriate rigour is evident in all the organisation’s processes and recommendations.
8. To act to improve resuscitation knowledge and skills in Australia leading to measurable improvements in outcomes.
9. To operate as a proactive, responsive and consultative body in the pursuit of excellence in resuscitation practice and understanding.
10. To seek membership and support across professional and non-professional sectors.
11. To seek to be recognised as a credible source of advice in Australia.
Instruments
The Australian Resuscitation Advisory Network may use such instruments and strategies as required to ensure effective communication and representation of and with members and others. These may include:
· The production of resuscitation guidelines and supportive material for consideration and discussion
· Educational events
· Attendance and representation at appropriate forums and events
· An organisational website, including forums
· Activities to promote resuscitation knowledge and skills development across the community
· Consultation and advice to organisations
Advocacy for improving community awareness and participation in response to cardiac arest
Membership
Membership of the Australian Resuscitation Advisory Network is open to all persons and organisations that have an interest in resuscitation and ascribe to the Aims and Objectives of the association. Membership fees may be levied as appropriate for the effective operation of the organisation.
The appointment of office bearers of the Australian Resuscitation Advisory Network shall not be restricted to a sector or professional group and shall be selected from the membership, by the membership, on an annual basis as required.
Funds
The assets and income of the organisation shall be applied solely to further its objects and no portion shall be distributed directly or indirectly to the members of the organisation except as genuine compensation for services rendered or expenses incurred on behalf of the organisation.
Dissolution Clause
In the event of the organisation being dissolved, all assets that remain after such dissolution and the satisfaction of all debts and liabilities shall be transferred to another organisation with similar purposes, which is charitable at law and which has rules prohibiting the distribution of its assets and income to its members.
